Camp FLYROD was founded in the year 2000 by Jeff Warwick. A couple of years later, the Camp was incorporated as a South Carolina non-profit corporation. Camp FLYROD is a non-profit organization providing wonderful outing experiences to disabled people in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The purpose of the camp’s existence is to allow people with special physical, mental, or emotional needs or disabilities to enjoy the outdoors, to challenge them and motivate them, to inspire them to aim high in spite of their disabilities. Camp FLYROD is dedicated to serving these people’s spiritual needs – offering numerous religious, culturally enriching opportunities, encouragement, counseling, and motivation exercises. The camp has 5 mountain cabins in the upstate South Carolina. Camp FLYROD is a UNIQUE PLACE for UNIQUE PEOPLE! The Camp’s founder, Jeff Warwick, whom the campers call simply and affectionately “Flyrod” for his love of fishing, is a retired commercial pilot and ardent supporter and volunteer of Special Olympics and all programs for people with disabilities. He served on the Greenville County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs from 2003 till 2006.
